Wooden printing block with metal printing plate depicting two children sitting back to back. Accession Number: HH4748/15/88 Plates are the illustrations separately printed and inserted into a book once it is bound. The copper plate is the master surface from which printing is done. Used at Holmes McDougall, Edinburgh. Holmes McDougall were educational publishers based at 137 - 141 Leith Walk, Edinburgh. Edinburgh City of Print is a joint project between City of Edinburgh Museums and the Scottish Archive of Print and Publishing History Records (SAPPHIRE). The project aims to catalogue and make accessible the wealth of printing collections held by City of Edinburgh Museums.
