Usage

[edit]
{{British-Museum-object
|number      = <!-- Most common reference number -->
|objectid    = <!-- Collection database objectId value -->
|description = <!-- Text description of object -->
|size        = <!-- Size measurements -->
|loc         = <!-- Location in the Museum -->
}}

Parameter guide

[edit]
  • objectid: The addition of objectid will link number to the British Museum collection database record for the object. If no objectid is included then number is prefixed by a link to the BM database help page. Note that objectid should be identical to the "&objectId=" parameter value in the url of the British Museum collection database record for the object. You can check the listing by searching for any object at britishmuseum.org/research.
  • number: This should be the most common reference used for the object, preferably either as used in the collection database or shown in the museum as a label for the object. Common references used in the BM include accession number, Big number, registration number and special exhibition numbers.
  • loc: Location within the museum, the room or gallery number is useful.

When to use this box

[edit]

This detail box has been styled to harmonize with the standard {{Information}} summary box and so may sit directly under the summary box rather than having its own section. You may prefer the more extensive {{Artwork}} summary box if the current summary is trivial or yet to be written.

This box does not replace any requirement to add sufficient copyright details to the image.
